MISTY'S DIARY APRIL 9, 2000

Meow everyone! We had an interesting thing happen to us about a week or so ago. My meowmie found a ferral mother cat in our basement window nestled in some leaves that had blown into the window sill. She said the cat looked like it could be my twin sister. The cat was nesting there with a litter of kittens. She looked very frightened when she saw my meowmie, but Newman had also just run by, so we figured it might be that she feared the dog more than she feared meowmie. We think this mainly because nearly all cats love our meowmie and come to her naturally. It's a gift she has. Anyway, meowmie put out some milk and water and a dish of dry cat food, in the hopes that the mother cat would decide to stay. Then she noticed the mother cat had gone away, leaving 2 kittens behind. The kittens looked to be about 2 weeks old. Their eyes were barely open and they still had mini-sized ears. The next time she looked, only one kitten remained in the nest. She patted the kitten and it spat at her! LOL! To think such a tiny kitten would have the spunk to spit when it wouldn't stand a chance if she had wanted to hurt it. (She wouldn't, of course.) The next time she looked there, the mother cat and all the kittens were gone, and so was the food she had put out. We've never seen them again since. We figured mother cat decided it wasn't a safe place and moved her kittens to another nest somewhere else. We were very disappointed. Meowmie was going to take them in and take care of them. But it was not meant to be. We just hope the family is safe, wherever they are.
SnowPuff, Keedie, and Tang and I are all graduating at Claw this month. It's official! We're on the list of graduates and we've put on our graduation caps. We're so very proud and excited. All our grades are in. We all got all A's. We can't wait for the graduation day!
