REMEMBERING PEPSI

By TygerStar079

Pepsi was part labrador retriever, part doberman, and part Chesapeake Bay retriever, we think. Being a mixed breed dog, it was impossible to say for sure. He was neutered at a young age, so he never had any problems with breeding worries. He was a good dog, with a gentle, quiet disposition, and alot of love to give. He was very smart and very obedient. He could speak and shake hands on command. He had all kinds of basic obedience training. When he walked, he walked with a prance. He was a real proud, high-stepping dog. He loved to fetch balls and frisbees. He enjoyed nothing better than to get in the car and go for a nice long ride with us in the country. He was good with our cats and loved them dearly. They loved him, too. Sometimes, he would get jealous if they got too much attention. But all we had to do was pay attention to him and he'd be happy again. He liked playing chase with the dog next door. There's a fence around our yard and next door, too. So Pepsi and their dog, Tyson, would run back and forth along the fence together, up and down the yard. They wanted to play together, but of course, they couldn't reach each other. Pepsi was a very athletic dog in his youth. Then came that sad day when we learned that he had kidney disease. Our vet gave him medications and thought he could avert the illness. But it was not to be. Pepsi went steadily down hill from there. He passed very quickly and quitely on April 3, 1997. He was 12 years old. I love him and miss him still. It's very hard to get over such a loss when you have loved so deeply. But I know that one day I will see him again, when we meet at the rainbow bridge, when it's my turn to go there. I'm sure he's there waiting for me with all my other dear pets who have gone on ahead to the bridge. And for now, Pepsi is one of my guardian angels, watching over us all. Rest in peace, sweet Pepsi. I will never forget you.
