TYGER'S DIARY JANUARY 21,
2000
What's in a name? They say a rose by any other name smells just
as sweet. When it comes to naming your cats, some interesting things can
happen. Take, for example, my cats. Where did I get their names, you may ask
yourself. You may think that Tang is a breakfast drink, not to mention the
fact that, if you have viewed my dog photos over at Tyger's Photo Album or
Brownie's Dog House and Cat Cave, you may also wonder if Pepsi is a soft
drink. Well, that's not quite accurate. The names really are a coincidence,
although, I have had many wonderful laughs out of the fact that people thought
my pets were named after drinks. A few years back, I got laughs galore out of
telling people my pets were Pepsi, Fanta, and Tang! It sounds hilarious.
Fanta, was, by the way, a purebred german shepherd female I had at that time.
Her name was really Fantasy, but we cut it short to make it easy for her to
remember her name. However, in reality, none of them were named after soft
drinks. It was just that when we named Tang, we were trying to pick a name
that sounded oriental, like the siamese that he is. Tang sounded oriental. We
weren't thinking..... Then Pepsi came out of the idea of a puppy full of pep
and energy, which he was at that time. Fanta was Fantasy. So you see how it
can happen. Want more fun? Try naming your cats in such a way that their names
sound like baby talk. Take Keedie, for example. Her name is a twist on the
word "kitty." Or Misty Beebe, who got the Beebe part of her name from being
constantly called "baby" as a kitten. The names are endless. What cute names
can you come up with? Personally, I think human names are fine. But to me,
cats and dogs need cute names, more like a cartoon character or a fantasy. But
that's only my opinion. Naming your pets can be fun, especially when you get
years of laughter out of the likes of Pepsi, Fanta, and Tang! Have a nice
weekend!
